Midwest Gastroenterology Associates is a practice specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive, nutritional and liver diseases.

We have offices in Cook and Dupage counties, with staff privileges at Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, IL, Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL, Little Company of Mary Hospital in Evergreen Park, IL, and four Chicago-area hospitals, including Mercy Hospital, Holy Cross Hospital, and St Anthony and Loretto Hospitals.

The physicians and staff of Midwest Gastroenterology Associates have been delivering care to patients for more than 25 years. We have four board certified physicians and a physician assistant to assist you in your quest for digestive health, along with a committed and dedicated office staff.

Dhruva Tilwalli, M.D.

Board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Tilwalli founded Midwest Gastroenterology Associates in 1981 and has served as President since then. He has three decades of experience in all digestive disorders, acid reflux disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, pancreatic disease and liver disorders, and is skilled in all endoscopies including screening colonoscopy. He performs complicated biliary procedures including spyglass for Biliary tract disease and BARRX ablative therapy for Barrett's Esophagus.

Dr. Tilwalli graduated from Miraj Medical College, India with distinction. Dr. Tilwalli completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Weiss Memorial Hospital, Chicago and Fellowship in Gastroenterology at Michael Reese Hospital, Chicago.

Dr. Bajaj has made the list of America's Top Doctors on many occasions. He was one of the first gastroenterologists in Dupage County to perform ablative therapy for Barrett's esophagus. Dr. Bajaj has served on several committees within these facilities, and have had his work published in leading industry journals.
 

Ajay Bajaj, M.D., F.A.C.G.

Board certified in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine, Dr. Ajay Bajaj serves as a consultative gastroenterology at Midwest Gastroenterology Associates since 1993. With extensive experience and advanced skills, Dr. Bajaj provides patients with comprehensive, dedicated care, while also serving as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois School of Medicine and a Clinical Instructor at Chicago Medical School. Dr. Bajaj performs advanced endoscopic procedures including ERCP with spyglass and laser lithotripsy, endoscopic enteral stenting, BARRX endoscopic ablation and EMR endoscopic mucosal resection.

Dr. Bajaj graduated first in his class with his Doctor of Medicine degree from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College of Aligarh Muslim University, before coming to the US to complete his postgraduate training. Dr. Bajaj served an internship at Grant Hospital of Chicago and a residency in Internal Medicine at Chicago Medical School, where he was Chief Resident. He also completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Chicago Medical School to further advance his training.

Gopal Popli, M.D.

Dr. Gopal Popli is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and has performed over 20,000 endoscopic procedures in his career. His training includes medical school at Patiala University, India, with training at Chicago Medical School and in the United Kingdom. He completed his Fellowship at Chicago Medical School in Chicago and was their first graduating fellow. He brings an international perspective to his practice.

Dr. Popli's primary focus remains communicating and understanding his patients needs to provide them with the best and most advanced treatments available. When it is needed, Dr. Popli has served on numerous committees and has served as the department of medicine chairman at St Anthony Hospital.
 

Tania Fliter MMS, PA-C

Tania is a board certified physician assistant*. She has practiced and specialized in gastroenterology for over 6 years. She is an intricate component of the physician-physician assistant team that Midwest Gastroenterology offers to their patients. She works very closely with our four physicians at several local hospitals in order to give the timeliest and most efficient care to our hospitalized patients. She specializes in patient education and counseling, in order for our patients to have a clear understanding of their diseases and treatment plans.

Tania completed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology, Summa Cum Laude, at Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan. She then graduated from Midwestern University, Downers Grove, IL with a Master's Degree of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies. She is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants as well as the American Gastroenterological Association. Since her graduation she has dedicated herself to the comprehensive care of her patients and staying updated on the advances in the ever changing field of medicine.
